Although possessing a style all his own, this 41-year-old guitar slinger's influences read like a who's who of the blues: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, B.B. King, Son Seals, Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Jimi Hendrix and Buddy Guy. Phil burns up the stage night after night on his favorite axe, a 1970 Fender Stratocaster, arranges all of the band's songs and composes most of their original material. Phil is a founding member of the King Louie Band, performing with the band since its inception in 1992.
BUDDY HOBBS - DRUMS, VOCALS (below, right)
Known as "Buddy Love" and "Buddy Frog Gigger" because his real last name is so difficult to pronounce, Hobbs (his stage name) is one of the finest drummers around. A 10-year veteran of the KLB, Buddy, 59, puts feeling behind every beat. After performing professionally for most of his life in pursuit of perfecting his percussive art, his command of dynamics and nuance are nothing less than breathtaking.
BILL JONES - BASS (below, left)
An eight-year veteran of the KLB, Bill Jones is not your average bassist because he's not a frustrated guitar player. In fact, all he ever wanted to do growing up in Atlanta was play bass, and he's been doing it professionally now for more than 30 years. Bill, 53, prefers well-crafted soulful simplicity over superfluous flash, so you'll always find him right where he should be - very capably holding down the bottom end.
